This September, Panjim Goa will see some of the most sophisticated and elite brands and designers ever – the Bougainvillea LuxuryLifestyle and Fashion Exhibition is just 10 days away and we couldn’t be any less excited. With this event, Team Bougainvillea is now taken the fashion benchmark level a notch higher in terms of trending fashion, style quotient and craftsmanship.  

What motivated Radha Goel and Poonam Mittal to organize this event?  To bring about the much needed change to Goa’s fashion arena by putting all the big and upcoming names in luxury fashion under one roof. Something no one in Goa has ever experienced. Here’s the second list of top designers and fashion brands from across India, exhibiting at the Luxury.

RSR by Riti Shah

Know Your Designer: RSR is an offspring of a young and dynamic girl, Riti Shah. A graduate of Fashion Design from the Prestigious Istituto Marangoni in London, she has also worked under Mary Katrantzou, Osman and Irynvigre under the fabrics, design and sales department. She has attended various workshops at the British Fashion Council and has worked closely with the PR company BPCM during her time at OSMAN. Her experience stretches out to different aspects of runway fashion, as she has interned with all the seasons of London Fashion Week and Fashion Scout London for a period of four years giving her exposure in the various segments such as Design,PR, Backstage and Administration. Her Spring/Summer 2018 collection EQUIPOISE has been featured in Rekt Magazine UK, HUF magazine UK, Model Mag UK and on the Dubai Based luxury lifestyle blog "Amanqi Edit". Her collections are also available on the esteemed platform "Not Just A Label.com" while her Indian Collections are available on Stage3.co. 

The Work:   The label is just under six months old and has two parallels, consisting of ready to wear fashion and Indian Couture. Fashion for all is one of the main ideologies and hence the brand works to manufacture Menswear, Kidswear and Womenswear. The designs symbolise strength and power. They are meant for someone who knows what they want and also know how to achieve it. The silhouettes are bold, clean cut, extremely architectural yet elegant and form fitting with some three dimensional elements. Attention to details, finishing and pattern cutting techniques are principles the label stands by and strives to achieve. It is an aesthetic that bridges strong silhouettes with elegance that celebrates the body form.  Bold contours with dashes of embroidery make every technique used architectural and decorous.  

Upasana India by Uma

Know Your Designer: While many fashion and beauty brands draw a lot of flak for being insensitive towards nature, here is one brand that has sustainable fashion as its motto.

Started by Uma, the brand is the offspring of a movement that wishes to address the pressing social issues such as farmer suicides in India, fashion waste production, women empowerment and employment, craft empowerment plastic pollution etc via fashion. The brand finds its genesis in the philosophy of ethical business, sustainable fashion, green revolution in fashion and community empowerment.

The Work:  Through pure cotton and khadi work, Upasna aims to redefine fashion from being something superficial and vanity. Know Your Designer: Vandana Makhija is one of the most celebrated names in the world of handcrafted premium jewelry and fashion accessories. Vandana’s designs reflect an ideology that one should invest in good fashion essentials and keep up with the every changing design and fashion trends. No wonder each item under the Chic Therapy brand goes through a rigorous quality control process before being presented to the world.

Know The Brand: ‘Smily kiddos’ is one of the leading names in the world of children’s stationery items. The brand offers a vast range of first-class designer stationary products in Canada, India, Saudi Arabia USA and UAE.

Rain Tree by Jaya Velu

Know Your Brand: One of the hidden gems of the Indian fashion world is probably the Rain Tree Botique. Curated by a lover of Indian textiles Jaya Velu, the multi-brand boutique showcases some of the most exquisite work by artisan Indian brands. Kudos to Jaya to have built a brand that reflects the true ethos of being Indian sans all the commercial hype we typically associate with fashion.

The Work: Raintree showcases reputed luxury designer labels such as Anokhi, Amrapali and Ritu Kumar as well as niche brands like footwear from Plum Tree, beauty products from Areev and delicate silk scarves by Christina.

My India

My India is a Social Initiative working extensively in Labor Trafficking and Street Children Rehabilitation. It is a. Major Project and we work through our volunteers, we initially take these children out from the system, rehabilitate them as they are mostly drugged and then mentor them and train them in productive platform such that we can prevent them from going back to. Their origin and be a better part of our Society, we don't take any sponsorship and try to sell the handicrafts or sponsored gifted accessories for them through various exhibitions. All proceeds are for Charity.
